In high school football action Friday night, Grove City and Lakeview both rattled off wins.
Grove City routed Oil City 70-22 on the road, while Lakeview picked up a 24-19 win over visiting Eisenhower.
- Grove City 70, Oil City 2 - At Oil City, the Eagles stayed unbeated with another big win in Region 5-AAA.
Wes Phipps ran for four of Grove City’s nine TDs while rushing for a game-high 140 yards. Foster Reznor added another pair of scores to pace head coach Jeff Bell’s Eagles, who improved to 7-0.
Oil City, which had met Grove City in a thriller a year ago at Forker Field, tallied just the two points on a safety in the second frame. The Eagles held the Oilers to only 144 yards of total offense.
- Lakeview 24, Eisenhower 19 - In Stoneboro, the Sailors (3-4) ended a skein of three straight setbacks with a pair of game-saving plays in the final minutes.
Trailing 19-16 with 36 seconds to play, Lakeview quarterback Zach Bigley hit Zac VanDusen with a 20-yard touchdown pass to take the lead on the Knights. Blake Reddick followed the score with a run for the conversion that put the Sailors up by 5.
VanDusen then pilfered a Knights’ pass on Eisenhower’s ensuing possession to seal the win with 26 seconds to go.
Reddick finished with another big night for the Sailors, running for 162 yards and a pair of TDs and, defensively, picked another Knights’ pass earlier in the tilt.
