New Life to celebrate 20th with Point of Grace, Bebo

NEW WILMINGTON — New Life Baptist Church, 3414 state Route 208, New Wilmington, is proud to announce "An Evening of Compassion," featuring Point of Grace and Bebo Norman at 7 p.m. March 31. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Point of Grace formed at Ouachita Baptist University 19 years ago, and the all-female group has emerged as one of the biggest names in Christian music with its signature harmonies, anthemic choruses and powerful lyrics that poignantly capture life's simple yet vital messages.

The two-time Grammy winners have sold more than 6.5 million albums and earned 24 consecutive No. 1 hit songs, which is unmatched by any artist in any genre.

Point of Grace has on 10 prestigious Dove Awards, including Country Recorded Song of the Year in 2008 for "How You Live" and in 2009 for "I Wish."

Bebo Norman was an independent artist before that title was cool. He started his music career when he took a year between college and medical school to try his hand as a performing artist.

He soon sold 50,000 self-made copies of "The Fabric of Verse" (1996) at coffee house shows, out of his trunk and online. Bebo has since won two Dove Awards and released his seventh studio project, "Ocean," in 2010 amid great acclaim.

As a supporter and advocate of Compassion International, he reminds the Body of Christ in his lyrics to actually "be" like Christ and truly serve "the lease of these."

The concert is part of New Life's 20-year celebration of ministry.

The church started in a country cornfield in 1992 and has blessed and touched the lives of thousands with the love of Christ in Lawrence and Mercer counties and throughout the world.

The community is invited to celebrate with the church as it looks back at God's provision and look forward to new ministry opportunities in the Shenango Valley.
