James R. “Ralph” Cochran, a lifetime resident of 1576 Millbrook Road, Worth Township, passed away at 3:42 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, after an extended illness. He was 77.
Mr. Cochran was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Worth Township to Homer and Mary Evans Cochran.
He was a graduate of the former Sandy Lake High School, class of 1951.
Ralph retired from farming in 1998, having owned and operated the Willow Valley Farm, a family-owned and -operated farm in Worth Township. Ralph also formerly worked at Montgomery Apple Orchard and Farm and formerly showed cattle for C.B. Montgomery, who owned the farm and orchard.
He was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Wolf Creek Township.
Ralph enjoyed his Jersey cows and spending time with his family.
His wife, the former Nora Elizabeth Reichart, whom he married Oct. 17, 1951, survives at home.
Also surviving are: two children, Raymond Cochran and his wife Diana; and James E. Cochran and his wife Sherry, all Worth Township; a sister, Irene Weigle, Harrisville; a brother, Norman Cochran and his wife Marge, Stoneboro; four grandchildren, Jennifer Cochran, Jamie Chlpka, Nicole Cochran and Steven Cochran; and three great-grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth McFarland.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today (4-21-10) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday (4-22-10) in the funeral home.
Interment in Union Home Cemetery, Wolf Creek Township.
