Eleanor J. “Alice” Weaver of 8097 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Sandy Lake and Dunmore, Pa., died of natural causes at 4:30 a.m. Thursday (4-29-10) in Mt. Healthy Christian Home, Cincinnati. She was 105.
Born April 5, 1905 in Dunmore, she was a daughter of Morgan J. and Mary Alice Evans Jones.
Eleanor graduated from Dunmore High School, after which she worked at First National Bank of Dunmore.
She married the Rev. Winifred T. “W.T.” Weaver on Aug. 15, 1945. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1978.
Mrs. Weaver had been a member of the former Church of Christ of Sandy Lake.
She loved music, especially singing and playing the piano and organ, and often played for others at Mt. Healthy Christian Home.
Mrs. Weaver is survived by four grandchildren, Mrs. Harold “Jake” (Shirley) Perrine, Sandy Lake; Mrs. Wayne (Sondra) Kasbee, Sandy Lake; Gary Weaver and wife Carol, Pittsburgh; and Mrs. David (Janis) Thomas, The Villages, Fla.; 13 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
Aside from her parents and husband, Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by a brother; two stepdaughters, Edna Elder and Kathryn Brest; and a stepson, DeWitt Weaver.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday (5-2-10) in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.
Funeral and committal service are at 11 a.m. Monday (5-3-10) in the funeral home, with Tim Clark, pastor of Emmanuel Christian Church, Stoneboro, officiating.
Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
