Mary Josephine Herman

Retired cafeteria worker liked gardening, sewing

CABOT, Pa. — Obituary was published May 1, 2010.



Mary Josephine Herman of 943 New Castle Road, Worth Township, Butler County, died at 1:21 p.m. Sunday (4-25-10) in Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot. She was 79.

Born in Patton, Westmoreland County, on March 19, 1931, Mary was the daughter of Joseph and Veronica Ann Samonick Krezan.

Ms. Herman had worked in food preparation and service, first at Grove City College and later at Slippery Rock University, where she retired in the late 1990s.

She enjoyed reading, gardening and sewing.

Surviving are two brothers-in-law, Robert M. Miller and Dominic Daurora, both of Apollo, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Helen Krezan and Kitty Krezan, both of Penn Hills, Pa.; and a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.

Ms. Herman was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Thomas “Dutch,” Joseph, Frank and John Krezan; and three sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Daurora, Dorothy “Jane” Krezan and Helen Miller.

Calling hours were Wednesday (4-28-10) in Smith Funeral Home, Slippery Rock.

Funeral service was also Wednesday in the funeral home, with the Rev. James Lewis, pastor of West Liberty United Methodist Church, officiating.
