David N. Huntington of Taggart Road, Slippery Rock, died following a lengthy illness at 7:36 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 59.
The son of Floyd T. Huntington and Mary E. Brandon Huntington Wiedenhofer, David was born Feb. 13, 1951, in Grove City.
A 1969 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, he retired in 2000 from Slippery Rock University, where he worked for the campus police department for 30 years.
David was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in Vietnam.
Mr. Huntington was an avid hunter and fisherman. His family was beloved to him, and he enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy R. Burke Huntington, whom he married July 26, 1975.
Also surviving are: four sons, Timothy A. Huntington and his wife Opal, Salomanca, Nev.; David R. Huntington, Jamestown, N.Y.; Robert J. Huntington and his wife Brooke, Slippery Rock; and Joshua J. Huntington and his wife Breanna, Slippery Rock; six grandchildren, Devan, Darin, Rochelle, Kyrria, Karly and Morgan; two sisters, Beverly Aspinall, Uniontown, Pa.; and Margaret Anderson, Huntley, Ill.; and two brothers, Ronald Huntington and his wife Linda, Gonzales, Texas; and Floyd “Jim” Huntington, Oakwood, Ga.
Mr. Huntington was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald “Fred” Huntington; and his step-father, George Wiedenhofer.
Calling hours are 9:30 to 11 a.m. today (4-24-10), followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, with Pastor Travis J. Richendrfer of Grace Tabernacle Assembly of God, Slippery Rock, as officiant.
Interment in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
