YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio —

Mary Lou King Hood, 310 Woodlawn Drive, Mercer, died at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Northside Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio, after a lengthy illness. She was 82.
Mrs. Hood was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Saxonburg to Mary Elizabeth Orr and Dr. T. W. King.
She married Joseph Hood on June 28, 1947.
She was employed as tipstaff at Mercer County Courthouse for judges John Q. Stranahan and Thomas Frampton and as a clerk for Mercer Gas Co. and the old Mercer airport.
Mrs. Hood was a member of Mercer United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and a lifetime member of Mercer Community Bridge and Special Monthly Bridge Ladies.
Mary Lou enjoyed raising her family, and playing bridge and golf.
She is survived by: her husband, Joe, at home; three children, Sandra, wife of Larry Rodgers, Mercer; and Pam, wife of Joseph Stephenson, Lowellville, Ohio; and Joseph Hood and his wife Bonnie, Girard, Ohio; three sisters, Jean Slifka, Cheshire, Conn.; Patricia Redfoot, Chapel Hill, N.C.; and Barbara and her husband William Beatty, Whiting, N.J.; a brother, Dr. David King and his wife Judy, Greenville; four grandchildren, Erin and Kevin Fink, Christopher Hood, the Rev. Adam and Lindsay Rodgers, and Sarah and Chad Gibson; and six great-grandchildren, Owen, Nelson and Collin Rodgers, Lily Gibson, Lila Fink and Hannah Donaldson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Ann Hennessy; and three brothers, Robert D. King, Dr. Thomas King and Dr. Richard King.
Calling hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday (4-18-10) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer, and from 10 a.m. to time of service Monday (4-19-10) in Mercer United Methodist Church.
Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (4.19-10) at Mercer United Methodist Church, 250 E. Butler St., Mercer, with the Rev. Dr. William P. Crooks, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, officiating. He will be assisted by Mrs. Hood’s grandson, the Rev. Adam Rodgers, pastor of Stoneboro Presbyterian Church.
Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jackson Township.
