EAST LACKAWANNOCK TWP. — Obituary was published April 28, 2010.

Beryl Calhoun of 8221 Lamor Road, East Lackawannock Township, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township. He was 91.

Mr. Calhoun was born May 7, 1918, in Gastown, Pa., to Melvin and Cora Bierer Calhoun. He worked as a manager at the former G.C. Murphy Co. in Mercer.

Beryl was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer, as well as the Mercer Rotary Club and a Free and Accepted Masons lodge in Ohio.

His wife, the former Leila R. Sheaffer, whom he married Sept. 2, 1940, is deceased.

Surviving are: a daughter, Ruth Anne and her husband Clinton Oviatt, Erie; two sons, James W. Calhoun and his wife Catherine, Hermitage, and Donald R. Calhoun and his wife Catherine, Navarre, Ohio; and five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Calhoun was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Calling hours were Monday (4-26-10) and Tuesday (4-27-10) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., Mercer.

Funeral service was Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Daugherty, retired minister, officiating.

Interment in Findley (Township) Cemetery.
