Local wildlife rehab center needs help now

My husband and I have known about Skye's Spirit Wildlife Rehabilitation Center near Harrisville for years, but they were recently brought to mind in a real way.

We found an injured bunny on the road near Zelienople and Skye's Spirit accepted him without hesitation.

We drove him up there and gave a donation. We found out later only 10 percent of people give a donation for the wildlife they turn over to the center.

The center is being inundated with injured and displaced wildlife.  Last year they took in 13 fawns total.

This year they have already taken in 19. They are feeding and caring for over 160 animals.

This past weekend they took in 7 bunnies, 4 baby wrens, a baby tree swallow, a baby turkey and a young opossum, plus a baby American Kestrel which is the smallest falcon in the area.

The kestrel had a broken wing and was found in a backyard in Butler.

To learn more about the center, go to their website www.skyes-spirit.com and follow the link to their Facebook page.

You can see a picture of the baby kestrel there.

Since the center is on the verge of turning away injured wildlife due to lack of funds, I encourage people to help them continue their merciful care of our wildlife.
