Carl C. Hoffman of St. Paul's, 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, formerly of Furnace Road, Fairview Township, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, in St. Paul's, where he had been a resident for several years. He was 82.
Mr. Hoffman was born Aug. 5, 1930, on the family homestead in Fairview Township, a son of Earl and Georgiana Fischer Hoffman.
He was a dairy farmer, having farmed on the family homestead until 1976, when fire struck his barn. Following this, he went on to work at Reznor -- a unit of Thomas & Betts, Mercer, until his retirement in 1995.
Mr. Hoffman had attended First Church of God, West Salem Township.
On Oct. 16, 1953, he married the former Dorothy J. Zuschlag, who preceded him in death Nov. 29, 1999.
He is survived by: two daughters, Anna Mae Kaufman and her husband Daryl, Jackson Center; and Bonnie L. Lather and her husband Phil, Greenville; three sons, Wesley C. Hoffman and his wife Melody, Greenville; and Dennis A. Hoffman and his wife Heather; and Jeffrey S. Hoffman and his wife Christina, all Fredonia; a sister, Gladys Harakal, Greenville; and a brother, Glenn Hoffman and his wife Verna, Indiana.
Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Archie Hoffman, Virgil Hoffman and Lloyd Hoffman.
Calling hours were Friday (11-30-12) and Saturday (12-1-12) in Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville.
Funeral and committal service was Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Garry L. Bates, pastor of First Church of God, West Salem Township, officiating. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.rslfh.com
Interment will follow at Hadley Cemetery.
