Naomi Joyce Sittig

Cooper secretary enjoyed cooking, baking, bingo

MEADVILLE — Naomi Joyce Sittig, Smith Road, French Creek Township, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Sunday (11-25-12) in Meadville Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 74.

Born May 28, 1938, in Grove City, she was a daughter of John T. and Sara E. Smith Snyder. Joyce graduated in 1956 from Grove City High School then worked as a secretary at the former Cooper-Bessemer, Grove City. Most of all Joyce was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.

She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing cards, cooking and baking.

Her husband, Harry George Sittig, whom she married Dec. 4, 1969, survives at home; also surviving are two daughters: Cheryl Young, Meadville, and Bobbie Jo Nemeth and her husband Bill, Cochranton; three sons: James C. Sittig and his wife Brenda, Goldsboro, N.C., Jeffery A. Northcott and his wife Hae Young, Seoul, South Korea and Scott B. Northcott and his wife Beth, Cochranton; fourteen grandchildren: Dustin, Chris and Brian Sittig, Jerod, Cody and Ryan Northcott, Sara Young, Matt Northcott, Kendra and Logan Nemeth and Jason, Jamie, Justin and Ashley Northcott; two great-grandchildren: Tessa Northcott and Riley Sittig; also a sister Dena L. Uber, Grove City; also two nieces Debbie Hartman, Grove City and Julie Myers, Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Theresa Northcott; and a son John Sittig.

Calling hours were Tuesday (11-27-12) in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.

Funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday (11-28-12) in the funeral home, with the Rev. James P. Leuenberger, interim pastor, North Liberty Presbyterian Church, Grove City, officiating.

Interment and committal in Cochranton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
