STONEBORO —
Martha J. Crouser of 25 Lake St., Stoneboro, formerly of New Lebanon, passed away peacefully Thursday morning (1-24-13) in her home of natural causes. She was 91.
Born April 4, 1921, in Canal Township, Venango County, Mrs. Crouser was a daughter of Charles Orville and Ruth A. Hutcheson Beightol.
She was a 1939 alumna of Franklin High School and a graduate of Feller's Beauty School in Oil City.
In early years, she worked at H.L. Moore's of Cochranton, Talon of Meadville and the TNT ordnance plant in Mercer County during World War II.
From 1957 until 1975 when she retired, she and her husband owned and operated Crouser's Dairy Isle of Cochranton.
Martha had been member of New Lebanon Community Church for more than 64 years and had been active in the Ladies Aid Society.
She loved to play bingo and spend time with friends and family. Martha was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed horse racing and traveling with her son, Chuck, of Crouser Stables, to the harness races.
Her husband, Charles L. Crouser, whom she married Oct. 26, 1940, preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1995.
Survivors include: two daughters, Dixie Kepner and her husband Ralph, Sandy Lake; and Connie Mitchell and her husband C.A. "Rusty," Sharon; a son, Charles L. Crouser Jr. and his wife Sandra, Stoneboro; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Peggy Baker and her husband C.B., San Antonio, Texas.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Orville Beightol Jr.
Calling hours were Sunday (1-27-13) in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, Stoneboro.
Funeral service was Monday (1-28-13) in the funeral home with Tim Clark, pastor of Emmanuel Christian Church, officiating.
Interment in New Lebanon Cemetery, Mill Creek Township.
