DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. —
George H. Seifert, who lived the last six years in Daytona Beach, formerly of Grove City, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach. He was 88.
Mr. Seifert was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Pittsburgh to George H. Seifert Sr. and Josephine Schneider Seifert.
He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Duquesne University, both Pittsburgh, the latter from which he earned a bachelor of arts degree.
Mr. Seifert retired as a self-employed financial planner.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a former member of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City
He was a member of a Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks lodge in Florida; and was a former member of Knights of Columbus Council 3658, Grove City; Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1637, Mercer; and the Grove City Country Club.
He was a former golfer and enjoyed reading.
His wife, the former LaVerne A. Degenhardt, whom he married Aug. 21, 1948, died July 11, 1991.
Surviving are: two sons, George D. Seifert and his wife Dottie, Debary, Fla.; and Dr. Raymond D. Seifert and his wife Dr. Carol Seifert, Gibsonia, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Michael P. Allison, pastor of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Pine Township, officiating.
Burial in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
