JACKSON CENTER —
Thomas W. Polick of 229 S. Foster Road, Jackson Center, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Thursday (1-3-13) in his home of natural causes. He was 101.
Born Jan. 16, 1911, in Westmoreland County, Mr. Polick was a son of John and Anna Bishop Polick.
Mr. Polick always loved farming and working outdoors. In early years, he raised vegetables and along with is mother, took them to market.
When he was 22 years old, he bought his farm on Foster Road and milked cows there until the age of 80 years. During the years, he also worked off the farm for Montgomery Mills, now Montgomery Hardware, of Jackson Center, where he delivered feed. He had also worked at other farms locally.
Through the years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Thomas loved music, playing the harmonica and singing.
His wife, the former Emma M. Cameron, whom he married Oct. 30, 1940, preceded him in death Feb. 24, 1995.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Moore and her husband Chuck, Girard, Ohio; Donna Magargee and her husband Gary, Jackson Center, Bonnie Tucker, Sandy Lake; and Linda Carothers and her husband Sam, Jackson Center; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David E. Polick.
Calling hours were Saturday (1-5-13) in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, Stoneboro.
Funeral and committal was Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeffrey M. Harter, chaplain at Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Hermitage, officiating.
Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jackson Township.
