MERCER —
Dorthy M. Hoffman Barlett Nelligan of 374 N. Perry Highway, Lot 27, Mercer, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in her residence. She was 72.
Mrs. Nelligan was born March 16, 1940, in Barkeyville to Morris P. Hoffman and Mae E. Hedglin Hoffman.
She graduated from New Wilmington High School.
Dorthy attended Unity Presbyterian Church, Lackawannock Township.
She enjoyed being in Homemakers Club and being a craft leader for Vacation Bible School at Unity Presbyterian Church. She was talented at arts and crafts, which she loved.
A homemaker, she was a neighborhood mom who loved baby-sitting and caring for children.
Her first husband, Paul E. Barlett, and second husband, James William Nelligan, are deceased.
Dorthy is survived by: two daughters, Pam Barr, Butler; and Judy Nelligan, Greenville; a son, John Barlett and his fiancée Tammy Dodson, Mercer; five sisters, Frances, wife of Arthur Boofer, West Sunbury, Butler County; Mabel, wife of Harold Toms, Polo, Ill.; Donna, wife of Carl Stiffy, Mercer; Sandra, wife of Richard Ace, Naples, Fla.; and Lillian "Kay," wife of David Aites, Jackson Center; a sister-in-law, Barbara Hoffman, Sharpsville; a brother, Lewis Hoffman and his wife Mary, Mercer; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Paul E. Barlett Jr.; and a brother, Morris A. Hoffman.
Calling hours were Monday (12-10-12) and Tuesday (12-11-12) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., Mercer.
Funeral service was Tuesday in the funeral home, with Pastor Scott Bates of Mercer Baptist Church officiating.
Interment in Old Log Cemetery, Irwin Township, Venango County.
