GREENVILLE —
Walter M. Fisher of 328 N. Perry Hwy., Coolspring Township, died at 12:48 am on Sunday (12-2-12) at UPMC Horizon, Greenville, following a period of failing health. He was 76.
Walter was born in Fredonia, on Sept. 26, 1936, a son of the late Joseph Walter and Elizabeth Rose (Zirger) Fisher. On July 28, 1962 he married the former Ruth Ann Fredrickson. She survives.
He was a 1954 graduate of the former Stoneboro Consolidated High School.
He then served with the U.S. Army, following which he worked at the former Sharon Steel Corp for 41 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and in his later years enjoyed reading.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Ann Peidle and her husband Larry of Hermitage, and Laurie Elizabeth Fisher of Saegertown, a son John Walter Fisher of Dallas, Texas and three grandsons, John Alexander Fisher, Justin Michael Peidle and Jordan Paul Peidle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter; three sisters, Rose Ann Fisher, Christine Marie Wells and Gladys Irene Stallsmith, two brothers, Joseph Fisher and Frederick Fisher, two half-sisters, Anna Woods and Betty Arnold and a half-brother Frank Fisher.
