FREDONIA —
Harold Paul Reed, formerly of Fredonia Road, Lake Township, passed away at 10:25 a.m. Sunday (11-18-12) in Greystone Country Estates, Fredonia, after a brief illness. He was 90.
Born Sept. 1, 1922, in Sandy Lake, he was a son of Harold J. and Mabel Y. (Reed) Reed.
He was a 1941 graduate of the former Sandy Lake High School.
Paul retired in 1985 after 25 years of service as a machinist from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Paul loved to mow his grass and enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to garden.
In his early years he enjoyed singing to his children. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
A World War II veteran, Paul served in Central Europe in the U.S. Army and earned the Bronze Star.
His wife, the former Martina Tressa Myers, whom he married Aug. 25, 1955, preceded him in death Nov. 24, 2010.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Bobbitt and her husband Guy, Jackson Center; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters; Lois Slater, Mercer; and Florence Owens, Guys Mills; two brothers, Bill Reed and his wife Jane, Stoneboro; and Don Reed and his wife Evelyn, Cookstown, N.J.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Day; two sons, Daniel Stearns and Bernard Scott Stearns; an infant grandson, Steven Bobbitt; two sisters, Pearl Francisco and Dorothy Gealy; and a brother, Norman Reed.
Calling hours and funeral and committal services were Nov. 21, 2012, in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, Stoneboro, with Pastor Gene Habbyshaw of New Fellowship Baptist Church, Mercer, officiating.
Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
