Carol Ann Chestnut

Liberty homemaker enjoyed nature, bowling

LIBERTY — Carol Ann Chestnut, a resident for the past 22 years of Liberty Township, passed away unexpectedly at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, in her home. She was 66.

Mrs. Chestnut was born Dec. 26, 1945, in Dravosburg, Allegheny County, to Wilbert Bertram and Elizabeth Felix Hunter.

She grew up in the Bellevue area of Pittsburgh where she was a cheerleader in high school and graduated from Bellevue High School, class of 1963.

Following graduation, Carol worked as a secretary for ALCOA Corporation in downtown Pittsburgh.

She was a homemaker and loved raising her children.

Carol formerly was employed by Wendell August Forge, Grove City, where she was a sales clerk and later worked in inventory for the business.

She was an active member at North Liberty Presbyterian Church and participated in the Circle Group of the church.

Carol enjoyed nature; she loved gardening, flowers and identifying and feeding birds.

For the past 20 years, she was an avid bowler and played on leagues in the Grove City area.

Carol married Robert 'Bob' S. Chestnut on Oct. 8, 1966; he survives at home.

Also surviving are three children, Michael Hunter Chestnut and his fiance Shelley Neeley, Grove City; Jennifer 'Jenny' Leigh Carben and her husband Jason, Chicora, Pa.; and Matthew Hunter Chestnut, Grove City; a sister, Joan Gibbs, Zelienople, Pa.; six grandchildren, Karli and Brady Chestnut; Noah, Catcher and Skyler Carben; and Gavin Hunter Chestnut; and a niece and nephew, Johann Best and family, Zelienople; and Jeffrey Gibbs and family, Ellwood City.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

Calling hours were Friday (10-12-12) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Funeral service was Saturday (10-13-12) in the funeral home, with the Rev. James P. Leuenberger, pastor of North Liberty Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment in North Liberty Cemetery.
