Nancy M. Shardy

Homemaker, Howe worker served in Mercer church

COOLSPRING — Nancy M. Shardy of Coolspring Township, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in her residence. She was 80.

Mrs. Shardy was born Feb. 27, 1932, in Grove City to John and Alice M. Livermore Kloos.

Nancy graduated in 1950 from Mercer High School.

She was a homemaker.

Upon graduation, Nancy was a secretary at what is now Reznor -- a unit of Thomas & Betts, Mercer. In her later years she worked for George Howe Co., Grove City.

She was a lifelong and active member of Mercer United Methodist Church.

Nancy was a flower gardener whose beautiful flowers were enjoyed by everyone.

Her husband, Frank William Shardy, whom she married May 10, 1951, passed away in June of this year.

Surviving are: four daughters, Susan M. King and her husband Michael, Marietta, Ga.; Diane L. Shardy, Sharon; Carol L. Wrolstad and her husband Duane, Glendale, Ariz.; and Donna McNutt, Bloomington, Ind.; a sister, Karen G. Burch, Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Glenn G. Kloos and his wife Imogene, Mercer; her grandchildren, Deanne Wrolstad, Amanda Wrolstad, David McNutt and Joshua McNutt; and a great-grandson, Kenneth Wrolstad.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Carl Kloos.

Memorial service was Thursday (10-18-12) in Mercer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eric C. Leonard, pastor, officiating. Cremation in John Flynn Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hermitage. Flowers may be sent to Mercer United Methodist Church, 250 E. Butler Street, Mercer, PA 16137.
