GREENVILLE —
Tedd C. Engstrom Sr. of 43 S. Mercer St., Greenville, formerly of 160 Hamburg Road, Hempfield Township, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after an extended illness. He was 84.
Mr. Engstrom was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Grove City to Herman C. and Jeanetta Straub Engstrom.
He was a 1946 graduate of the former Stoneboro High School and served as a seaman in the Navy during World War II.
He was a manager at the former Carson Finance Co. for most of his career and also worked for Oakes & McClelland Co., both Greenville.
Tedd loved flying model airplanes and belonged to MERCO MACS model airplane club.
He loved baseball and was a coach in Greenville for many years, coaching teams in different leagues including Babe Ruth, Senior League and American Legion.
His wife, the former Donna R. Ringer, whom he married Aug. 11, 1950, survives him at home.
Also surviving are: three sons, Tedd C. Engstrom Jr. and his wife Darla, Greenville; Todd A. Engstrom and his wife Debbie, Round Rock, Texas; and Tim Engstrom, San Francisco; a brother, Jim Engstrom and his wife Betty Jane, Stoneboro; four grandsons, Eric Engstrom and his wife Jaime, Greenville; Mike Engstrom and his wife Sally, Greenville; and Jason Engstrom and Brian Engstrom, both Round Rock; a granddaughter, Emily Engstrom, also Round Rock; a great-granddaughter, Camille Engstrom; and two great-grandsons, Wyatt Engstrom and Rhys Engstrom, all Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Duane Engstrom.
Calling hours were Tuesday (10-9-12) and will be from 10 a.m. to time of service today (10-10-12) in Osborne-Williams Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 73 & 75 Columbia Ave., Greenville. An online guestbook can be signed at: www.osbornefuneralhome.com
Funeral and committal service at 11 a.m. today in the funeral home, with the Rev. Rex Wasser, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, Greenville, and the Rev. Dr. Mearl Henley, retired pastor, co-officiating. Military honors will be rendered by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374, Hempfield Township.
Cremation will follow the service.
