Helen "Jane" Schell, Stoneboro, passed away unexpectedly at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, (9-29-12) in Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, of natural causes. She was 86.
Born March 22, 1926, in Fredonia, she was a daughter of Ivan L. and Ella Mae Collum Ringer.
Jane was a 1944 graduate of the former Fredonia-Delaware Joint High School.
She worked more than 15 years as a cook for the former Lakeview Inn Restaurant of Stoneboro and retired in 1988.
She was a member of Fredonia United Methodist Church. Jane was a member of the Stoneboro Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bingo, bird watching and cooking.
Most of all, Jane was a loving mother to her children and very loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, George E. Schell, whom she married Dec. 31, 1946, preceded her in death Jan. 30, 2000.
Survivors include five daughters, Carol A. Saylor, Jamestown; Linda Cushing and her husband Donald, Bulls Gap, Tenn.; Kathy Patterson and her husband Gary, Fredonia; Debra Beougher and her husband Larry, Ashford, Ala.; and Vicki Schell and her companion James Dixon, Stoneboro; two sons, George E. "Butch" Schell Jr. and his wife Melodie "Mike," Fredonia; and Thomas E. Schell, Stoneboro; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Ringer; and William Ringer and his wife Joan, all Fredonia; and a special daughter-in-law, Rhonda Schell, Stoneboro.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Donna Schell; a son, Gary L. Schell Sr.; a great-granddaughter, Courtney Hittle; a great-grandson, Maverick Barber; and a sister, Virginia Mae Ruhlman.
Calling hours were Tuesday (10-2-12) in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.
Funeral service was Wednesday (10--3-12) in the funeral home with the Rev. Stephanie D. Thompson, chaplain of Orchard Manor, Pine Township, officiating. Interment with committal in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
