PINE — Nellie Esther Causer Brydon of Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, after an extended illness. She was 80.

Mrs. Brydon was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Grove City to Albert Theodore Causer and Sophia Helen Gardner Causer.

Nellie was a homemaker and had previously worked as a teller at First National Bank of Slippery Rock.

She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts, cross-stitching and reading.

She was a member of Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the King's Daughters.

Her husband, George Samuel "Sam" Brydon, whom she married June 20, 1953, survives at home.

Also surviving are: a son, S. Joseph Brydon and his wife Denise, Slippery Rock; three daughters, Rebecca Sue Coyer and her husband Ronald; and Elizabeth Ann Dickey and her husband Robert, all Slippery Rock; and Melissa Lynn McCloskey and her husband Jerry, Sandy Lake; and a sister, Betty J. Spencer and her husband Fred, Slippery Rock.

She also leaves nine grandchildren, Katie Brydon Hall and her husband Joe; Adam and Alex Brydon; Rachel Coyer Stadler and her husband Paul; and Megan Coyer, Thomas Coyer, Jacob McCloskey, Karilyn "Kari" McCloskey and Cassidy McCloskey.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sophia Scott; and a brother, Albert T. Causer.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (2-15-13) and 10 a.m. to time of service Saturday (2-16-13) in Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Keith McIlwain, pastor of Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment in Slippery Rock Township Cemetery.
