RUSKIN, Fla. —
Robert W. Firster of Ruskin passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, in his home in Ruskin. He was 72.
Mr. Firster was born Sept. 6, 1940, in Stoneboro to Herman "Ducky" Firster and Pearl A. Firster.
He graduated in 1959 from Lakeview High School, where he was an outstanding basketball player.
He retired in 1998 from Joy Global Manufacturing Co. in Franklin.
A loving father and grandfather, he enjoyed fishing, golf and spending time with his loving puppy, Willow.
Mr. Firster was a veteran and served proudly in the Air Force, where he met his wife of 49 years, JoAnn C. Schmidt Firster.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Richard Firster. Ê
In addition to his wife, JoAnn, he is survived by: a daughter, Elizabeth A. Firster Ryder and her husband Bradley, Grove City; a son, Robert M. Firster and his wife Diane, Yardville, N.J.; a grandson, Calvin R. Firster, who is serving in the Air Force; a brother, Howard "Moe" Firster and his wife Lois, Stoneboro; a sister, Pamela K. Vath and her partner Russel J. Henry, Hermitage; and several nephews and nieces, who loved him very much.
He was a kind and generous soul who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
There will be no services as per his request.
