Alta Mae Rademacher, formerly of Hermitage, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Thursday (1-31-13) in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township. She was 90.
Mrs. Rademacher was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of Scott and Laura (Herriott) Lewis.
She was a graduate of Sharpsville High School and received her bachelor's degree from Grove City College.
Alta Mae was employed in the engineering department at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. Years later she was a fifth-grade teacher in the Hermitage School District.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon.
Alta Mae and her husband spent many summers at Vermilion, Ohio, on Lake Erie, where they shared many memorable times with family and friends. They loved sailing and kept their boat in mooring at Vermilion Yacht Club. Together, they fulfilled a lifelong dream of sailing to Florida and back along the intracoastal waterway.
Alta Mae enjoyed quilt making as well as collecting quilts and old movies.
The stock market was also of great interest to her.
She was most in her element when tending to her roses and flower garden and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She and her husband, Lawrence Bernard Rademacher, whom she met while working at Westinghouse, were married Aug. 15, 1947. He passed away July 22, 1990.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mary McDaniel and her husband, Tillman, Lakeside, Ariz.; two sons, the Rev. Paul Rademacher and his wife, Jacquie, Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and John Rademacher and his wife, Susan, Sharon; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Shirley Minner, Ashland, Ohio; and two brothers, James Lewis and his wife, Mary Lou, Youngstown; and Dr. Gerald Lewis and his wife, Terry, Kyle, Texas.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Scott Lewis.

Funeral service was Monday (2-4-13) in the funeral home, with her son, the Rev. Paul Rademacher, officiating.
Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
