Norma L. Coursen, a resident of Grove Manor, Grove City, formerly of Barkeyville, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township. She was 76.
Born Dec. 6, 1936, in Grove City, she was a daughter of Norman and Edna Cross.
Norma received her education from Slippery Rock High School.
She married Jack D. Coursen. He passed away July 14, 2002.
Norma was a cafeteria aide at Victory Elementary School for a number of years. She also was a devoted homemaker and mother to her family.
Norma was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge 83 in Franklin. She was active in the Scrubgrass Senior Center, taking many bus trips with the other ladies from the center.
Norma and her husband traveled throughout the United States, having visited Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed going camping and fishing. Norma was a very crafty person and most recently enjoyed scrapbooking.
She was a member of Barkeyville Methodist Church and attended Barkeyville Church of God.
She is survived by: a son, Jay A. Coursen and his wife Lori, Sandy Lake; her grandchildren, Joe Coursen and his fiancŽe Jessie Smith, and Wendy Coursen Moffitt, all Clintonville; Cindy Knox and her husband Rick, Polk; Shane Coursen and his girlfriend Alyssa Ferlin, Jackson Center; and Brian Coursen and Pamela Coursen, both Sandy Lake; and her great- grandchildren, Joseph Coursen, Trinity Coursen, Loren and Kylie Knox and Gage Moffitt.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Richard L. Coursen, who passed away Dec. 6, 1995, and Brian D. Coursen who passed away Aug. 24, 1999; and two sisters, Alice Thompson and Janet Cannon.
