John C. Gibson of 1590 Pulaski-Mercer Road, Mercer, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, Jan. 3, 2013, surrounded by his loved ones in his residence as he wished. He was 69.
Born June 13, 1943, in Ellwood City, Pa., Mr. Gibson was a son of Audley C. and Ruth Allison Gibson.
He was a graduate of Laurel High School and was employed with CSX Railroad for more than 30 years.
John was a guide in Colorado with East Divide Outfitters for 10 years. He was a horse trail rider, an avid hunter and a life member of National Rifle Association.
He attended Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, Portersville.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Lastoria Gibson, whom he married Nov. 15, 1995.
In addition to his mother Ruth, who resides in New Castle, and his wife Mary Ann, John is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne C. and Bonnie Gibson, Slippery Rock; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda E. and Larry Peluso, Portersville; two stepchildren, Maj. Mark Lastoria and his wife Paula, Fayetteville, N.C.; and Michelle Bintrim and her husband Ty, Waynesburg, Pa.; two sisters, Ruth Ann and her husband Alex Temenski; and Janice and her husband Ron Knass, all Princeton, Pa.; and 12 grandchildren, Anthony, Nick and Chris Peluso; Aubrey, Chelsea, Emily, Caroline, Faith and Joshua Gibson; Josh Bintrim; and Madison and Marissa Lastoria.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, David Gibson.

Funeral service was Sunday in the funeral home, with Pastor Marsha Parrish of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, Portersville, officiating.
