Catherine Eleanor Hannon, Slippery Rock, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, in Butler Memorial Hospital. She was 75.
Mrs. Hannon was born Aug. 24, 1937 in Athens, Bradford County, Pa., to Warren Spaulding and Lillian Pearl Dunbar Parke.
She graduated from Athens High School in 1955. Mrs. Hannon received her bachelor of science degree in home economics from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in 1959. She was certified in dietary management.
Mrs. Hannon worked as a dietary manager for Autumn Grove in Harrisville; and for The Haven and Golden Hills Nursing homes in New Castle.
She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Slippery Rock and was active in Christian Mother's in her younger days. She was also a lector and a Eucharist minister at the church.
She was active in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Mrs. Hannon was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing and making clothes. She also liked to read.
She married Dr. Thomas Joseph Hannon on July 25, 1959; he survives.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Margaret A. Hannon-Sellers, wife of Jimmy, McKees Rocks; and Dr. Marilyn Hannon Sain, wife of Sergio, Millstone Township, N.J.; a son, Timothy James Hannon, husband of Jeanette, Erie; a brother, Thom E. Parke, Sayre, Pa.; and five grandchildren, David Abelson, Timothy J. Hannon, Jr., Liam Patrick Hannon, Tessa Marie Sain, and Andrew Thomas Sain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Richard A. Parke.
Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 p.m. Friday (1-11-12) by Pastor Kevin Poecking, of St. Peter's Church, 670 South Main St., Slippery Rock, preceded by a private, family visitation at the Smith Funeral Home, Slippery Rock.
Interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Harrisville.
