GREENVILLE —
Ethel I. Robinson, St. Paul's, 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, formerly of Mercer and Grove City, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Monday (12-24-12) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 96.
Mrs. Robinson was born April 11, 1916, in Perry Township to Lamont and Mable (Rath) Haggerty.
She married Leon Gruber in 1937 and he died in 1967.
Her second husband, Glenn Wimer, whom he married in 1982, died in 1989.
Her third husband, Newton Robinson, whom she married in 1995, died in 2000.
Mrs. Robinson was a graduate of the former Hadley High School and the former Penn High School in Greenville.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was a guide for the former Grove City Bus Lines and a secretary for Barnett Jeep Garage, Greenville.
She was a 90-year-plus member of the Stoney Point Grange, a member of the Mercer County Pomona Grange and a member of the Pennsylvania State and National Grange. She loved to square dance and was a seamstress, having made many wedding gowns and men's suits.
Mrs. Robinson enjoyed baking pies, volunteering at the Good Shepherd Center in Greenville and serving at the blood bank and Meals on Wheels, both in Grove City.
She is survived by: a son, Stanley Gruber and his wife Martha, Greenville; two daughters, Roberta Lackey, Stoneboro; and Marjorie Stubert, Greenville; a stepdaughter, Betty Milner, Grove City; a stepson-in-law, Fred Klingensmith, Austin, Texas; and adopted daughter, Joan Brant, Brookfield; a stepdaughter-in-law, Louise Basler and her husband Paul, Grove City; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Haggerty, Greenville.
She is also survived by: her grandchildren, Dee Reynolds, Onnalea Reed, Darren Lackey, Todd Gruber, Josh Stubert and Erin Snyder; her great-grandchildren, Linde Anniss, Glayna Reynolds, Kiersten Reed, Stephanie Reed, Shayna Reynolds, Abby Gruber, Bryce Stubert, Brandon Stubert, Madison Snyder and Audrina Snyder; her great-great-grandchildren, Zoey Reynolds, Reed Anniss and Abby Anniss; her stepgrandchildren, Dan Wimer, Thomas Wimer, Scott Wimer, Beth Milner, Jamie Putnam, Lauren Klingensmith and Robbie Klingensmith; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a grandson, John Gruber; a brother, Harry Haggerty; a sister, Julia Jones; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Gruber; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Klingensmith; sons-in-law, Harold Lackey and Ray Stubert; an adopted son-in-law, Sy Brant; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were Saturday (12-29-12) at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of Penn Avenue and Clinton Street, Greenville. A Mercer County Pomona Grange service was held in the church.
A memorial service was Saturday at the church with the Rev. Lee Penvose, pastor, officiating.
Burial in Delaware Cemetery.
