SHARON —
Elmer L. Kite Jr. of Sharon, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 77.
Mr. Kite was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Pittsburgh to Elmer L. Kite Sr. and Phoebe Cunningham Kite.
He graduated from Stoneboro area schools and continued his education through trade schools.
Elmer worked for the former Sawhill Tubular Products Co. as an electrician for 28 years and retired in 1995. He taught wiring and the electrical trade at New Castle School of Trades.
Mr. Kite served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for 19 years and 11 months.
Elmer was a 32nd degree Free and Accepted Mason, having been a member of Kedron Lodge 389, West Middlesex; Scottish Rite's New Castle Consistory; and the Legion of Honor. He was a member of the United Steel Workers union. He enjoyed animals, gardening, fixing things and collecting miniature cars and airplanes.
His wife, the former Betty Henson, whom he married Dec. 5, 1957, survives at home.
Surviving are: a daughter, Vicky Michaels and her husband Robert Michaels Jr., West Middlesex; two sons, Elmer L. Kite III and his wife Emy, West Middlesex; and Randy W. Kite and his wife Emily, Nashville, N.C.; two sisters, Catherine Walton and her husband George, Chicago, Ill.; and Annetia Tobias and her husband Toby, Fredonia; grandsons, Bobby Michaels, Christopher Kite, Josh Atkinson, Kyle Kite, Kevin Kite, James Kite and Jacob Kite; and two granddaughters, Jamie Michaels and Heather Michaels.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Delores Mock, Frances Pearse, Vada Wilson and Laura Takash; and three brothers, Lewis, Charles and Raymond Kite.
