SENECA —
Robert J. "Bob" McClearn of Polk Center, formerly of Stoneboro, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, in the emergency room of UPMC Northwest, Seneca, after an extended illness. He was 68.
Born Aug. 31, 1944 in Stoneboro, Mr. McClearn was the son of Henry H. "Dugan" McClearn and Virginia Beatty McClearn.
Growing up in Stoneboro, he attended special education classes until the age of 14 at Stoneboro and Lakeview schools.
He made his home at Polk State School and Hospital in the 1970s and had lived there for 40 years. He enjoyed working at the Polk greenhouse for many years and also enjoyed making potholders; he loved to tinker.
He loved listening to music, especially his favorites Lawrence Welk and Elvis. He also enjoyed fishing at Stoneboro Lake and at Lake Seguin.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Bob is survived by a niece, Virginia M. "Chinky" Bakos and husband Ricky, Kinsman, Ohio; two nephews, Patrick R. Campbell and John E. Campbell, both Burghill; two great-nieces, Kasey and Stacey Elser; a great-nephew, Adam Elser; and his Polk Center family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonnie A. Campbell; and a nephew, William J. Campbell.
Memorial service for friends and family was Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, in The Everyday CafŽ at Polk Center, with the Rev. Sue Montgomery officiating, and Polk Center chaplains assisting.
