BUTLER —
Flora E. DeGregory Cemate of Forestville, died at 3:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, in Butler Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Hospice, two weeks after sustaining injuries in a fall from which she could not recover. She was 95.
Born Sept. 5, 1917, in Grove City, Mrs. Cemate was a daughter of Dominick and Ruth Petrozelle DeGregory.
Flora was formerly of Grove City and Boyers and was a graduate of Grove City High School.
Prior to marriage, she was employed in Grove City by Peters and Sloan as a bookkeeper and by Penn Grove Hotel as a switchboard operator and secretary.
She married Dominick F. Cemate on June 22, 1946, in Grove City, and was married for 58 years until his death March 4, 2005.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church of Forestville. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild of the church.
Flora loved to cook, plant vegetables and flowers and discuss politics. She was a kind, poised and generous lady who always put others first.
Surviving are a son, John D. Cemate, Forestville; and a daughter, Ruth A. Klingensmith and her husband Robert J., Harrisville.
Also surviving is a sister, Blanche Bonanni of Grove City. Numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law also survive.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James, Daniel, Michael and David DeGregory; and three sisters, Mary Grazaini, and two infants.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (2-20-13 ) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday (2-21-13 ) in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 232 Boyers Road, Forestville, with the Rev. Kevin Poecking as celebrant.
Interment in Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township.
