Homemaker, WWII vet has a daughter in GC

HERMITAGE — Mary M. Jagatich of John XXIII Home, Hermitage, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013. She was 93.

Mrs. Jagatich was born April 26, 1919, in Sharon, a daughter of Michael S. and Agnes M. Markusic Kuzel.

Mary served our country proudly during World War II with the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and was stationed in Tucson, Ariz., before her honorable discharge in 1943.

Following her discharge, Mary married her sweetheart, Maj. Ferdinand S. Jagatich, on Oct. 10, 1943, in St. Anthony's Church, Sharon. Together they shared more than 64 years of marriage and their four children, Carl, Cynthia, Celeste and Paula.

Mrs. Jagatich was a homemaker and mother to her family for the majority of her life. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and feeding the wild animals that visited her family's home.

She leaves behind: her son, Carl Jagatich, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; three daughters, Dr. Cynthia Simpson, Pleasant Plains, Ill.; Celeste Mathieson and her husband Thomas, Grove City; and Paula Riley and her husband David, Galloway, Ohio; her sister, Helen Bralich, Farrell; and 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 23, 2008; four brothers, Michael, Anthony, Frank and Joseph Kuzel; and four sisters, Bertha Rudar, Ann Carine, Kay Lawrence and Dorothy Fox.

Calling hours were Tuesday (2-12-13) and 10 a.m. to time of service Wednesday (2-13-13) in Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel, 6923 Warren-Sharon Road, Brookfield. Family and friends may send condolences at www.lanefuneralhomes.com

Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.

Entombment in Crown Hill Mausoleum, Vienna, with full military honors to be observed.

As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to West Hill Ministries, 301 W. State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
