GROVE CITY —
Howard C. "Chuck" Stafford of Lackawannock Township passed away at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Trinity Living Center, Grove City, after an extended illness. He was 86.
Mr. Stafford was born Oct. 11, 1926, in Union City to Howard W. and Velma Langworthy Stafford.
He was employed at the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant as a machine operator for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Stafford graduated from Bloomfield High School in Lincoln, Pa., and was a Navy veteran.
He attended Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage, and was a member of United Commercial Travelers of America Council 395.
Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, camping and model trains.
His wife, the former Esta Mae Javens, whom he married July 11, 1968, survives at home.
He also leaves: three sons, William Stafford and his wife Patricia, Clark; Howard Swartz and his wife Tricia, Reynolds; and Kevin Swartz and his wife Kelly, Hubbard; a brother-in-law, Denny Javens and his wife Ronnie, Transfer; a former daughter-in-law, Sheri Swartz, West Middlesex; his grandchildren, Nathan, Ross and Zachary Stafford; Gina, Matthew, Megan, Morgan and Travis Swartz; and Jessica, Rebecca and Elizabeth Shamblin; and his beloved dog, Heidi.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley Miller Stafford; and a brother, Richard Stafford.

Funeral service was Monday (2-18-13) in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Richard C. Nero, chaplain of Southern Care Hospice, officiating.
Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park Inc., Hermitage.
