BUTLER —
Linda Lee Fox Durnell of Liberty Township, Mercer County (Grove City), passed away at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Hospice, Butler. She was 65.
Mrs. Durnell was born Feb. 9, 1948, in Pittsburgh to August "Red" Louis Fox and Virginia Lee Norman Fox.
She graduated in 1966 from St. Canice High School in Pittsburgh. A homemaker, she attended West Liberty United Methodist Church. She enjoyed writing, reading and was a big animal lover.
She put others before herself. Her high school yearbook said she "tries to make things pleasant for everyone É unselfish and has a conciliatory manner." "She had belonged to the Glee Club, Art Club É likes good hearted people."
She married Dennis C. Durnell on Oct. 11, 2003.
Surviving besides her husband in Grove City are: a daughter, Jennifer L. Howard and her husband Michael, Crownsville, Md.; a son, Richard J. Velte and his wife Rickina, Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepson, Ryan C. Durnell, Mercer; a stepdaughter, Shelby R. Durnell, Butler; three brothers, Pat and his wife Marlene Fox, Butler; Mike and his wife Rose Fox, Baldwin, Pa.; and Tom Fox, Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Devin, Jessica, Wolfe, Ace, Austin and Cameron; and many loving nieces and nephews. Also surviving are: forever friends Lorraine Price, Jackson, Tenn., and Barbara Geis Russ, Pittsburgh.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Fox Liebert.
Memorial service at 11 a.m. today (2-23-13) in West Liberty United Methodist Church, 135 Church Road, Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Willard Morse, retired pastor, presiding.
Interment in Middlesex Cemetery, Saxonburg, Butler County. Arrangements by Smith Funeral Home, Slippery Rock.
