GROVE CITY —
Thelma L. McGaffic, a resident of Trinity Living Center, Grove City, the past eight years, formerly of Emerson Avenue, New Castle, where she lived all of her life, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 in the nursing home, after a two-week illness. She was 96.
Mrs. McGaffic was born Jan. 24, 1916 in New Castle to Owen Penfield and Elsie Marie Mart Fox.
She married Arthur Gilbert McGaffic on May 30, 1936. He died Aug. 15, 1998.
Mrs. McGaffic was a member of the First Baptist Church, New Castle.
Surviving are: two sons, Gavin McGaffic, husband of Colleen, Grove City; and Gary Gilbert McGaffic, husband of Marlene McGaffic, McMurry, Pa.; five grandchildren, Michelle and Brian C. McGaffic; and Jennifer Polasky, wife of Nicholas; Gavin Alexander McGaffic, husband of Carrie; and Cameron Kay McGaffic; and two great-grandchildren, Mason Alexander McGaffic and Liam Nicholas Polasky.
Besides her husband, she was preceeded in death by her parents.
A private family service was held Monday (1-21-13) in Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., with the Rev. John Jergan, pastor of visitation at the First Baptist Church, New Castle, officiating.
Graveside service followed in Graceland Cemetery, New Castle.
