Robert B. "Bart" Miller of Greenville, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday (1-2-13) in White-Cliff Health and Rehabilitation, Hempfield Township. He was 88.
Mr. Miller was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Mercer to Forest and Maxine McClure Miller.
Robert graduated in 1942 from Bradford (Pa.) High School.
He worked for the former Trinity Industries as a patternmaker for 10 years and as a project engineer for 20 years at Reznor Ð a unit of Thomas & Betts, Mercer. He retired in 1982.
He was a Protestant.
Robert served in the Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theatres, achieving a rank of gunner's mate second class.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6345, Mercer; and North American Hunting Club, Minnetonka, Minn.; a member of American Legion Post 919, Fairview Township; and a charter member of the World War II Memorial Foundation, Washington, D.C.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping and was an avid hunter.
His wife, the former Dona L. Baer, whom he married Aug. 26, 1978, survives at home.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Karen Clark and Deborah Briggs; and a son, Douglas Miller, all Greenville; four stepdaughters, Kathy L. McCartney and her husband the Rev. Dennis McCartney, Jackson Center; Terri L. Wright and her husband Wayne, Garrettsville, Ohio; Sheila F. Sefton and her husband Shawn, Eureka, Calif.; and Joyce A. Hall, Ravenna, Ohio; three stepsons, R. James Hall, Warren, Ohio; Rex C. Hall, Garrettsville, Ohio; and Wade P. Hall, Sharon; and a brother, Charles Matthews, Dover Ohio.
He also leaves two grandsons, a granddaughter, 14 stepgrandchildren, 23 stepgreat-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Maxine Matthews; and a brother, Robert Dye.

Funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Watson, assistant pastor of Calvary Tabernacle, Jackson Center, officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by American Legion Post 432, Wheatland; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex.
Entombment in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
