CLEVELAND, Ohio —
Mark A. Orben of Mercer, formerly of West Middlesex, passed away at 7:42 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in University Hospital, Cleveland, after an extended illness. He was 53.
Mr. Orben was born Aug. 24, 1959, in Sharon to Samuel and Selma Bohn Orben.
He graduated from West Middlesex High School in 1977 and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mark was a corrections officer for 20 years at State Correctional Institution at Mercer and prior to that worked for five years at Camp Hill in Harrisburg. Mark retired in May of this year.
He was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon, and belonged to A.B.A.T.E., the former Saxon Club in Farrell and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mark was an avid hunter and enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and his garden.
Surviving are: his mother, Selma Bohn Orben, West Palm Beach, Fla.; his brothers, Robert Orben and his wife Cindy, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and Samuel Orben and his wife Shelley, Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; a niece, Jessica Walsh and her husband Jason, Las Vegas, and their children, Brody and Brooklyn; a nephew, Sammy Orben, Royal Palm Beach; and cousins, Sally Ford and her husband Dennis, Hermitage; Cathy Paglinarini and her husband Bob, Sharon; and Kim DiCintio and her husband Michael, Niles, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial service was Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. C. Charles Eckles, pastor of I.H.S. Gospel Ministries, Hermitage, officiating.
Cremation was held in the funeral home crematory.
