Betty L. Leax

Longtime Jackson Center resident was homemaker

JACKSON CENTER — Betty L. Leax, a resident since 1950 of Springfield Church Road, Jackson Center, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, in her residence. She was 83.

Mrs. Leax was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Springfield Township to Charles Walter Palmer and Jennie Dunkerley Palmer.

Betty attended Grove City schools.

She was a homemaker. In her younger years, Betty was a waitress at the former Grove City Diner, Campus Dairy and Rudy's restaurants. During the late 1960s, she began working at the former Horchler Motors, Mercer, where she was a title clerk for 17 years.

She was a member of the former Springfield Presbyterian Church.

Her husband, Paul Walter Leax, whom she married June 23, 1949, died May 12, 1996.

Surviving are a son, James E. Leax and his wife Patricia; a granddaughter, Michelle Leax; and a great granddaughter, Serena Leax, all Greenville.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Paul W. Leax Jr.; a sister, Alice Palmer; and three brothers, Bill, Ralph and Lloyd Palmer.

Calling hours were Wednesday (12-12-12) in Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., Grove City.

Funeral service was Thursday (12-13-12) in the funeral home with C.L.P. (Commissioned Lay Pastor) Evelyn Beebe of Scotch Hill and Millbrook Presbyterian churches, officiating.

Interment in Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township.
