NEW WILMINGTON —
Evelyn J. "Jeanne" Hackwelder, New Wilmington, formerly of Parker, died peacefully Saturday morning, Nov. 10, 2012, following an illness since May. She was 61.
Mrs. Hackwelder was born Sept. 22, 1951 in Pittsburgh to Edward J. and Esther E. Brand Mader.
Jeanne was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School.
She retired from the Office of Personnel Management, Boyers, in December of 2011.
Jeanne enjoyed reading, gardening, following politics and spending time with her family and dogs. She dedicated her life to raising her children and enriching the lives of her family and friends with kindness, humor and love.
Jeanne married her loving husband, William "Bill" V. Hackwelder, on June 30, 1970. He survives.
Also surviving are: five children, Carrie Hackwelder-Longo, Emlenton; Eric Hackwelder, husband of Sandy, Erie; Jamie Hackwelder, husband of Nuria, Grove City; William "Bill" Hackwelder, New York, N.Y.; and Jason Hackwelder, husband of Tara, Chicora; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother.
Mass of Christian burial was Nov. 14, 2012, in Church of the Beloved Disciple, Pine Township, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Allison, as celebrant. Friends were received in the Knights of Columbus Hall, next to the church, following the mass.
