WARREN, Ohio —
William K. Shields Jr. of Greenville passed away at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in St. Joseph Health Center, Warren, Ohio, after a brief illness. He was 72.
Mr. Shields was born Feb. 5, 1940, in Sharon to William Shields Sr. and Ethel Holzapfeh Shields.
He graduated from Mercer High School.
William worked at Mercer Alloy and as a plant manager for Divers Steel City for 15 years.
On June 5, 1971, he married Shirley M. Diehl, who survives at home.
William was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting and camping.
William is survived by: his loving wife, Shirley; two daughters, Paula M. and her husband Todd Snyder; and Billie L. Shields; and a son, Kenneth V. Shields and his wife Linda, all Greenville; three sisters, Dolores and her husband Andrew Raiti, also Greenville; and Ruby Hoover; and Roberta and her husband Bob Regis, all Sharpsville; five grandchildren, Sarah Snyder, Jocelyn Snyder, Brittany Shields, Zackary Shields and Cory Shields; and two great-grandchildren, Darian Keller and Sophia Keller.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; and a brother- and sister-in-law, Jerry and Patricia Diehl, Transfer.
He was preceded in death by his father, William K. Shields Sr.; his mother, Ethel L. Shields; his sister, Beverly Burnett; and his brother, Robert Shields.

Funeral services at 3 p.m. today in the funeral home, with the Rev. Todd Jaussen, pastor of Crossroads Christian Fellowship, West Salem Township, officiating.
