Dorothy G. Peters of 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, formerly of 370 Laver Road, Clarks Mills, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Friday (1-18-13) in St. Paul's, West Salem Township. She was 89.
Mrs. Peters was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Clarks Mills to Ellis and Rose Heckman Ibbs.
She was a graduate of Hadley High School class of 1941.
Mrs. Peters was a member of Clarks Mills United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.
She was a homemaker and previously worked at the former Greenville Steel Car Co.
Mrs. Peters was a member of the former Mary Jane Rebekah Lodge 496 in Sheakleyville, where she served as past noble grand. She was a past treasurer of the New Vernon Grange.
She enjoyed bowling, baking pies, card playing and most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her husband, Robert C. Peters, whom she married Sept. 22, 1945, passed away in 1999.
Surviving are: her sons, Robert E. Peters and his wife Beth, Okatee, S.C.; Roger A. Peters, Bradford, Pa.; and Robin G. Peters and his wife Melissa, Mercer; a daughter, Paula Sturgin and her husband Raymond, Fredonia; a sister, Shirley Schroer and her husband Raymond, Hadley; grandchildren, Heather Egizio, Margaret Strum, Grant Peters, Blaire Fry, Layne Peters, Andrew Sturgin, Laura Sturgin and Hannah Sturgin; and two great-grandchildren, Kate Strum and Harper Fry.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Ronald G. Peters; and brothers, Charles and Jake Ibbs.
Calling hours were Sunday (1-20-13) in Andrew J. Vana Funeral Home, Hadley; and Monday (1-21-13) in Clarks Mills United Methodist Church.
Funeral service were Monday in the church with the Rev. Dayton D. Mix, pastor, officiating.
Burial in Perry Chapel Cemetery, Clarks Mills.
