Mabel A. Reiser of Stoneboro, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, in St. Paul's, West Salem Township. She was 98.
Born April 14, 1914, in Filer's Corners, Lake Township, Stoneboro, Mrs. Reiser was a daughter of Rueben and Goldie Cowan Parker.
Mabel was a 1932 graduate of the former Stoneboro High School and an active member of and advocate for her community.
She was a lifelong member of Stoneboro Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and deacon. She was past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star Stoneboro Chapter 110.
She was a Stoneboro business owner and a longtime member of the Mercer County Democratic Party, a role that began in 1960 when she had the opportunity to meet then-Sen. John F. Kennedy during a presidential campaign visit to the Shenango Inn, Sharon.
Mabel will be most remembered for her greatest passion as loving mother to her children and grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband George L. Reiser Sr., whom she married Jan. 9, 1937, preceded her in death March 23, 1992.
Survivors include: a daughter, Barbara J. Buckley, Stoneboro; four grandchildren, Renee Buckley Bleiler and her husband Timothy, Lockport, N.Y.; Sheila Buckley, Albany, Ohio; Kelli Rhoades and her husband Mark, Hermitage; Chad Reiser and his wife Sheila, Sandy Lake; and Lori Scott, Albany; a niece, Harriet Toth, Hermitage; great-grandchildren, Aislinn Bleiler, Marissa Bleiler, Brandon Rhoades, Karli Rhoades, Alaina Rhoades and Megan McClelland; and a beloved pet, Veronica.
In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; a son, George L. Reiser Jr.; three sisters, Helen Parker, Florence Ibbs and Grace Moon; and a brother, Clarence Parker.
Calling hours were Friday (10-5-12) in Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro, with an Eastern Star service at 9 p.m.
Funeral service was Saturday (10-6-12) in the funeral home, with the Rev. Adam J. Rodgers, pastor of Stoneboro Presbyterian Church, assisted by the Rev. Robert A. Manning, pastor of St. Columbkille Church, Stoneboro, co-officiating.
Interment with committal service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
