Helen Louise Woods, formerly of Stoneboro Road, Stoneboro, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, in St. Paul's, West Salem Township. She was 84.
Mrs. Woods was born Jan. 24, 1928, in East Lackawannock Township to Leroy Drake and Helen Elizabeth Rodewalt Drake.
She was a graduate of Mercer High School, then attended a cosmetology school in New Castle.
She was a member of Coolspring Presbyterian Church, Fairview Township, and its missionary society. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.
Her husband, Raymond Alexander Woods, whom she married Aug. 7, 1948, died Sept. 29, 1977.
Surviving are: three sons, David L. Woods and his wife Patricia, Mercer; Brian A. Woods and his wife Karen, Fredonia; and Bruce W. Woods and his wife Joyce, Stoneboro; four daughters, Marsha Wells, Jackson Center; Barbara Oberman and her husband G. Martin, Stoneboro; Mary Beth Walker and her husband Glenn; and Denise Mertz and her husband Steven, all Sandy Lake; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and a sister, Ruth McCracken.
Calling hours were Thursday (9-27-12) in Smith Funeral Home of Leesburg, Springfield Township.
Funeral service was Friday (9-28-12) in Coolspring Presbyterian Church, Fairview Township, with the Rev. John Creekpaum, pastor, officiating.
Interment in Carpenter Cemetery, Springfield Township.
