COLUMBUS, Ohio —
Master Sgt. Floyd G., 'Mac' McDeavitt of Columbus, Ohio; formerly of Walnutport, Pa., went to be with our Lord on Nov. 25, 2012. He was the husband of Barbara Schultz McDeavitt and they would have been married 12 years on Dec. 1.
Mac was a retired U.S. Marine and had an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion in Walnutport.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved his fishing trips to Canada with his brother-in-law Robin Schultz and long-time friend John Bender.
He enjoyed hunting with his nephew Dan Lindey and his brother Tom McDeavitt.
He was the son of the late Albert and Alberta McDeavitt of Slippery Rock, where he was born and raised.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Barbara Jo, wife of Richard McCarney, stepdaughters Patricia, wife of Raymond Sundy, Jacelyn Cressman of Tamaqua, Pa., and Laura, wife of Tom Woodrum of Rodenbach, Germany. He is also survived by grandchildren Carl, Jordan, Amy and Ansleigh Cressman, Preston, Grady and Lillian Woodrum, Aimee McLaughlin, and Kyle, Cassie and Jamie McCarney. He also leaves behind his two great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Noel.
Also surviving are a brother, Tom McDeavitt of Florida, sisters Lauretta Lindey of Grove City, who is his twin, and a sister Garnet Speer of Slippery Rock.
He was preceded in death by brothers Albert 'Bill' McDeavitt and Jess McDeavitt.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, (12-5-12) at West Liberty United Methodist Church, West Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to (in memory of Mac McDeavitt) Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr., Columbus, OH 43214.
