SANDY LAKE TWP —
Gara Lynn Kristyak, Stoneboro, Sandy Lake Township, passed away Sunday (12-2-12) at home. She was 56.
Born Dec. 22, 1955, in Kittanning, she was a daughter of Gary L. and Emogene A. Brown Starr.
She was a 1973 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1992 graduate of Penn State School of Nursing with a degree in nursing.
Along with her husband, she owned and operated Kristyak"s Korner of Sandy Lake for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Lakeview United Methodist Church.
Gara Lynn loved to ride motorcycles, loved traveling through the Rocky Mountains, the ocean and she loved her angels.
As an avid dirt track race fan, she was her husband"s biggest fan and supporter for many years.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, lovingly referred to as 'Bannie' by her ever-admiring granddaughters.
Her husband, Tommy Kristyak, whom she married August 16, 1974, survives at home; also surviving are two daughters: Amanda L. Campbell and her companion Bruce McQuiston, Clarks Mills; and Kari L. Safran and her husband Jeremy, Sandy Lake; five granddaughters: Kelsey Campbell, Clarks Mills, Kayla Campbell and her fiance Jonathan Schiestle, Sandy Lake, Kristine Campbell, Clarks Mills, Kylee Safran and Jenna Safran, both Sandy Lake; her mother Emogene Houser and her husband Jerry, Kittanning, her father Gary and his companion Janice 'Beebs' Martin, Florida; a sister Natalie Starr and three brothers; Jeffrey P. Starr and Brett A. Starr and his wife Debra, all Florida and Scott A. Starr and his wife Judith, Kittanning.
She was preceded in death by a sister Connie Starr.
The family greeted friends following the memorial service Wednesday (12-5-12) at Lakeview Church of God, Stoneboro.
Memorial service was Wednesday (12-5-12) in Lakeview Church of God, with the Nicholas E. Wilson, pastor, and the Rev. Susan M. Hoover, pastor of Methodists United in Faith, officiating.
