GROVE CITY —
Dretha I. Hardesty of Grove City went home to be with her Lord at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, in Grove Manor, Grove City, where she resided for the last seven years. She was 89 years old and formerly lived at Spruce Wood Commons, Slippery Rock.
Mrs. Hardesty was born July 5, 1923, in Rimersburg, Pa., to Thomas Guntrum and Grace Kent Guntrum.
She had been employed in the dietary department of Grove City College.
Mrs. Hardesty was a member of Wayside Community Church, Findley Township. She was baptized at the age of 83.
In her younger years, Mrs. Hardesty enjoyed dancing. She also enjoyed doing embroidery, telling stories of early life and things that go bump in your life. Children always went to her "candy drawer" when visiting. Mrs. Hardesty loved to read.
She was married to Arthur Hardesty in February 1946; he died in May 1978.
Surviving are: a daughter, Kathleen K. Nock and her husband Paul, Slippery Rock; two granddaughters, Lori Sue Shah and Amy K. Claycomb, both Grove City; two brothers, John Guntrum, San Bernardino, Calif.; and Charles E. Benn, Grove City; five great-grandchildren, Derek Claycomb, Rebecca Claycomb, Katie Claycomb, Luke Shah and Caleb Shah; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Hardesty was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Lisa Ann Grim; her sisters, Maude, Gertie, Sarah, Grace and an infant sister, Lovine; and two brothers, Hugh and Sam.

Funeral service was Thursday in the funeral home, with the Revs. G. Kenton Shaw and Lester Rowan, both of Wayside Community Church, Findley Township, officiating.
Interment in Rimersburg Cemetery.
