STRONGSVILLE, Ohio —
Bernice Maxine Rouse Zbaeren, Hinckley, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, in Altenheim Nursing Home, Strongsville, Ohio. She was 87.
Mrs. Zbaeren was born Dec. 25, 1924 in Pine Township to Earl and Tressa Spencer Rouse. She grew up in the Grove City area, and still has a number of relatives here.
Bernice was the beloved wife of Willard J. Hinckley, whom she married on July 4, 1948 in Longview, Wash. He preceded her in death.
She was a loving and dedicated homemaker who enjoyed caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for many years. Additionally, she worked as a part-time administrative assistant for Hinckley Medical Center.
She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, traveling the U.S. with her husband and caring for her loving pets. Bernice particularly enjoyed walking with her husband and pets on the Hinckley Reservation.
Surving are: her children, Daniel D. Zbaeren, husband of Cindy, Lakewood, Ohio; Debbie D. Bruder, wife of Alan, Medina, Ohio; Willard G. Zbaeren, husband of Mayumi, Sasebo, Japan; and Randy T. Zbaeren, Hinckley; her grandchildren, Nicole, Laura, Jeff, John, Patrick and Will; her great-grandchildren, Emily, Josh and Simon; a sister-in-law, Velma Rouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents;d her siblings, Margaret (Floyd) McNiesh; Frank (Helen) Rouse; and George (Velma) Rouse; and a brother-in-law, Dale Zbaeren.
Calling hours were Nov. 27, 2012, in Waite & Son Funeral Home, Medina, Ohio.
Funeral service was Tuesday in the funeral home, with Chaplain Beth Niermann, of Harbor Light Hospice, officiating.
Burial in Hope Memorial Cemetery, Hinckley.
