PITTSBURGH —
John E. Murphy, 55, of Enterprise Road, Pine Township, Grove City, Pa, formerly of Harrisville and Slippery Rock, passed away at 10:03 p.m. Monday (12-24-12) at UPMC-Montefiore, Pittsburgh, following an extended illness.
Born July 30, 1957, in Baltimore, he was the son of Robert D. Murphy, Sr. and Loretta Hunter Murphy.
John was self-employed most of his life. He formerly owned the Murphy Auto Care on Franklin Street in Slippery Rock, which he operated from 1988 until 2009.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1895 and Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 603, both in Grove City.
He is survived by: his fiance, Connie S. Breese, Grove City; two children, Mike Murphy, Utica, Pa.; and Jackie Thiry, Harrisville; one sister, Carol Humphrey and husband Robert, St. Cloud, Fla.; and one brother, Robert D. Murphy, Jr., Pittsburgh.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held.
Burial in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
