BUTLER —
Kenneth C. Beatty of Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (12-26-12) in Butler Memorial Hospital. He was 87.
He was born July 30, 1925, in Irwin Township, Venango County, to Grover Cleveland Beatty and Margaret Riddle Beatty.
Mr. Beatty married Jacque Grubbs on Sept. 17, 1983.
He had been employed at Cooper Bessemer, later called Cooper Energy, in Grove City. After that he worked with plumbing, heating and appliances for 28 years. He and his wife, Jacque, owned and operated Tinker's Dam Florist in Slippery Rock, where he had been active in helping Jacque since 1981. He greatly enjoyed the fellowship with friends resulting from the delivering of flowers to their many clients.
He graduated from Grove City High School in 1943. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II. He was an aviation radioman and received an Air Medal and two Gold Stars. He served on the aircraft carrier Belleau Wood as part of Task Force 58 off the shore of Japan.
Surviving are: his wife, at home; a daughter, Melodie G. Esposito (Eddie) of Grove City; two sons: Russell K. Beatty (Mary) and Robert K. Beatty (Beth), both of Grove City; a brother, Grover Cleveland Beatty of Grove City; a brother-in-law, Donald Jordan of Livermore Falls, Me.; three stepchildren; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter, Bonnie Jean Winder; two sisters, Maxine Beatty and Anna Jordan; and 2 brothers, Ralph and Keith.
Calling hours were Saturday (12-29-12) in Smith Funeral Home, Slippery Rock.
Funeral was Saturday in the funeral home.
Interment in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
