Joseph A. Langiotti of Greenville, passed away at 6 a.m. Tuesday (12-18-12) in his residence. He was 93.
Mr. Langiotti was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Roseta Degli Abruzzi, Italy, to Luigi and Maria D«Ambrozio Langiotti.
Joe and his family immigrated to the U.S. in 1921 and moved to Greenville in 1924.
He was a 1939 graduate of St. Michael's High School, Greenville.
Joe was employed as a mounter for 36 years at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., retiring in January 1983.
A U.S. Army veteran, Joe served during World War II from 1941-45 in the 967th Field Artillery Battalion E.T.O. His commendations included a Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and the African Defense Service Medal.
He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Greenville, where he sang in the Resurrection Choir. He belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374, Hempfield Township, and was a life and fourth-degree member of Knights of Columbus Fitzmartin Council 1446, Greenville.
Joe's hobbies included hunting, fishing and bowling. He was the co-founder of the Greenville Archery Club and was well known throughout the Greenville community for his favorite pastime, gardening.
His wife, the former Stella Marie Krokoski, whom he married Nov. 6, 1948, survives at home.
Also surviving are: four daughters, Linda Kerr and her husband Larry, Edinboro; Carole Langiotti, Greenville; Sandra Dutko and her husband Mike, Stoneboro; and Laura Zinger and her husband Marc, Stafford, Va.; two brothers, Paul Langiotti; and Alphonse Langiotti and his wife Norma, all Greenville; two sisters, Ann Bunton, Greenville; and Sister Edith Langiotti, R.S.M., Erie; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Shirley Langiotti, Greenville.
He was preceded in death his parents; a brother, William Langiotti; a sister, Teresa Langiotti; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Kerr.

Mass of Christian burial was Friday (12-21-12) in St. Michael's Church, Greenville.
Interment with committal service and military honors rendered by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374, Hempfield Township, in St. Michael's Cemetery, Greenville.
